The shooting of the pilot series of the “Horizon” project took place in the Primorsky Region in April 2018. The project was directed by Oleg Trofim, the main roles were played by Ilya Malanin, Irina Starshenbaum and Alexey Kravchenko.
The shooting took place on the Golden Bridge, Russky Island, the Russian Bridge, Akhlestyshev Bay, as well as lanes and houses in the historic center of Vladivostok were shot. Actors of Primorsky theaters starred in episodic roles.
All the film takes place in Vladivostok and its environs. According to the plot, after the devastating catastrophe caused by the new virus, mankind has almost completely died out. Only 70 people miraculously escaped, reaching the military bunker. Three years later five of them decide to go outside to find food and medicine.
The director of photography for the project was Denis Firstov, winner of the prize “For the best cinematography” for the film “Collector” at the Kinotavr film festival, and production designer Arthur Mirzoyan, who worked on films such as “Viy 3D”, “Viy 2: Journey to China”. Filming in Primorye was organized by the Primorye Film Commission.
