On October 17 in Busan (South Korea) the annual General Assembly of the Asian Film Commission Network was held within the framework of the Asian Film Forum Link of Cine-Asia. The Primorye Film Commission made its presentation to the participants of the General Assembly and joined the AFCNet. Cinema Forum Link of Cine-Asia is one of the sites, along with the Asian Film Market, which take place in the framework of the Busan International Film Festival, one of the largest film festivals in the world.
The task of AFCNet is to develop the film industry in the Asia-Pacific region. The International AFCNet includes 59 organizations (film commissions and film companies) from 18 countries. AFCNet promotes its members on the international market: in Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles. On the AFCNet site, the film commissions have the opportunity to exchange experiences, learn about the specifics of work in different regions of Asia. At the Link of Cine-Asia, every year there is a session of Rising Asia, at which three countries present their opportunities for filming. Next year at this session, the Primorye Film Commission will represent the opportunities of Russia and Primorye.
Joining AFCNet will help attract more international projects to Primorsky Krai, this is an opportunity to tell a large number of filmmakers around the world about the opportunities that Primorye provides for filming. AFCNet collaborates with the world's best locksmiths, providing them with a base for movie channel locations and arranging lokeyshn-tours. The Primorsky Krai Commission invited local managers, who participated in the Link of Cine-Asia film forum, to visit Primorye next year.
To attract large projects to the region, the well-functioning work of the film commission is important. Throughout the world, the film commissions are organizing shooting projects on the ground, facilitating the work of producers. Specialists of film commissions are well acquainted with the internal market of the region, with the possibilities of accommodation, logistics. The film commissions have complete bases of locations, equipment, local specialists, actors, etc. The work of film commissions in the regions is very important for such a territorially large country as Russia. Work of film commissions in the regions will contribute to the development of the film industry in the country and the expansion of the geography of the film companies.
For large projects, the provision of various financial benefits and preferences is of great importance. Primorsky Region is Russia's first region, which introduced a system of granting subsidies to cinematography organizations to recover part of the costs incurred in the region (15%).
The entry of the Primorye Film Commission to the AFCNet will serve as a good start for presenting the region's opportunities on the international film market.
The main goal of film commissions around the world is to promote their country or region by means of attracting film crews and developing film production. Filming in the Primorsky Territory increases its recognition, increases tourism attractiveness, attracts investment in the region.
